Alford Corn Exchange Community Group
(Registered Charity Number: 1154929)
9 Market Place, Alford, LN13 9EB
The Alford Corn Exchange Community Group is a registered charity and over the years we have been, and
still are, being supported by many wonderful volunteers, local people, several local businesses, and
an amazing number of professional decorators and craft people in making the Corn Exchange what it is
today. This is a warm and welcoming place for the people of Alford and the surrounding areas that
brings people together for social and leisure activities. It is with their support and kind
generosity that the following has been achieved since 2014:- kitchen completely refurbished, new boiler
installed, a Theatre Bar/Café area created, the wooden sprung floor
has been sanded and polished, interior walls wallpapered and painted and adorned with black and
white photographs of ‘Old Alford’, new stage curtains, new sound system and screen for film shows,
all stonework at the front of the building restored, 10 banqueting tables with 100 banqueting chairs,
as well as table linens and napkins purchased and equipment for short mat bowls acquired.
However, our main source of income comes from hire fees, rental income from Town Council (located in
the building’s office) and organising ad hoc events which goes towards the running costs -
electricity, gas, water, cleaning bills, insurances, licenses, and maintenance.
